Report of the Nunavut Electoral Boundaries Commission

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Tony Akoak today announced the release of the 2023 Report of the Nunavut Electoral Boundaries Commission.

Section 14 of the Nunavut Elections Act requires that an electoral boundaries commission “must be established for Nunavut every 10 years commencing in 2022.” The most recent Electoral Boundaries Commission was established by way of motion at the October 26, 2022, sitting of the Legislative Assembly.

Electronic copies of the report may be downloaded from the Legislative Assembly’s website at www.assembly.nu.ca and Elections Nunavut’s website at www.elections.nu.ca. The report will be formally tabled in the House by the Speaker when the Legislative Assembly reconvenes for its fall 2023 sitting.

Section 28 of the Nunavut Elections Act requires that a bill to implement the recommendations of the Electoral Boundaries Commission be introduced in the Legislative Assembly. This will occur during the upcoming fall 2023 sitting.
